The original ‘The Girl with the Pearl’ painting will move from The Hague to Amsterdam for a while. There will be no empty space on the world-famous museum wall in the Vermeer salon at the Mauritshuis Museum.
The best artworks submitted to an open call will be hung in the Girl's spot, in a digital picture frame! I have already seen a lot of beautiful pieces pass by on instagram and I challenged myself to make ‘My Ocean Girl with a Pearl’ (or more pearls if you dare to find them), inspired by this Masterpiece of Vermeer.
This is my hand drawn entry for the open call, organized by the Mauritshuis. Luckily I have Photoshop and Illustrator skills, so ‘I faked the photo in the museum frame ‘till I make it in the real museum’ ;).
The drawing is definitely real; it costed me approximately 24-30 hours of drawing. Loved doing this!
