mural 9x2 meters - Helder Yoga Studio Scheveningen
The journey to this moment has been extraordinary. When I took my very first Hatha yoga class at Helder Yoga, I never imagined that both yoga and this studio would become such a grounding part of my life.
I love adventure, but always with a solid foundation. Dedication is important to me: I want to give myself fully and with love to what I do, even when it feels uncomfortable or frustrating—because that’s when I know it truly touches me. In yoga, everything is allowed to be present, just as when I am in the sea. During the pandemic, I rediscovered that same sense of connection with nature and water at my drawing table, alternating between surfing, swimming, and yoga classes on the beach.
One day, I gave Rachel, the owner of the studio, a drawing as a thank you for that time. She gave it a beautiful place in the studio—something I always looked at with gratitude. In the fall of 2023, Rachel asked me if I would like to exhibit my art. It was the perfect continuation of my exhibition at Strandpaviljoen Buiten, where part of the work could flow naturally into the new show.
This year (2025), I set myself one clear goal: to create more art for myself, to find inspiring places to exhibit, and finally to make a mural. And then came Rachel’s message at the end of July: would I like to paint the new studio hall? My answer was immediate: YES!
On August 1st, I started with a blank wall in the newest room of Helder Studio at Kranenburgweg in Scheveningen. I worked through that first weekend, continued on August 8th, and added the final lines on August 9th. During this creative process, so much unfolded—not only in the space, but also within myself. It’s hard to put into words, but above all I feel gratitude: for the trust, for the space, for the chance to share my talent.
The mural feels true to me, to the studio, and to the place. I hope more adventures like this will cross my path, but for now I feel mostly happy, proud, and deeply fulfilled.
Enjoy the artwork on the wall during your yoga session. Have you never been to Helder Yoga but live nearby? Go! You’ll find a warm, welcoming place with a wide variety of classes and workshops—as diverse as my art.
Questions? Feel free to reach out. And who knows—perhaps we’ll meet, in the studio or on a new creative adventure.
