I came across this magical chapel in a magical place in the Jura in the summer of 2024. I was staying in Sirod at that time. One of the mornings I got up early and left at sunrise. I walked down a path and let myself be guided by where my feet were going. I finally ended up at the Pertes de L'ain. Beautiful waterfalls, river, depths, rocks and also beautiful trees and an overgrown elf rock. I felt like in a fairy tale. I continued walking and arrived at Bourg de Sirod. There a view over the entire waterfall.
I hadn't been smart and didn't bring any water. Fortunately there was a hotel restaurant at the foot of the climb I was going to do and I ordered water and a coffee. Finished it within a minute and kept walking. I walked up a path. In the stones the traces of Roman wagons. Very curious what this would lead to. Suddenly I was standing in front of a gate. This was the gate where the last stretch towards Switzerland came into view in Roman times. A place where a lot of trade and traffic took place. I walked on and through the tall grass a beautiful little chapel emerged in the middle of the woods. I walked towards it as if the angels had come fluttering from the sky. A gust of wind came and the blossoms blew out of the trees here. How incredibly magical. There is a bench next to the chapel, from which you can look out over the surroundings and see the last terrace towards Switzerland. I sat here for an hour and took it all in. It has become a very special place for me.
